The SRA are warning today of an email that have been delivered to members of the public claiming to be from the Department for International Development in Spain offering an employment opportunity.
The email claims that the organisation will sponsor the employees’ visa for work but must first obtain a “Police Clearance Certificate” and pay the costs of obtaining this certificate as well as visa application costs or work permits.
The SRA state that they do not regulate or authorise a firm called ”Elizabeth Rios Solicitors” or “Elizabeth Rios Chambers” which are the entities used for contact within the email.
The regulation authority warns:
“Any business or transactions through “Elizabeth Rios Solicitors” or “Elizabeth Rios Chambers” through the email address email@example.com, or via the telephone number + 44 757 264 7945 are not undertaken by a solicitor’s practice or an individual authorised or regulated by the SRA.”
Any information regarding the above, particularly if it involves the payment of money, should be reported to the police.
- Affected members of the public can also report the matter to the SRA by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Solicitors should report the matter to the SRA Red Alert line on 0845 8500999 or email@example.com.
